This study is a 6-month, randomised controlled, assessor blinded intervention trial conducted in older adults. The participants (n=106) were randomly allocated to either the intervention or the control group. Results show that the nutrition intervention: - had strong beneficial effects on body weight (moderate weight gain in the intervention group compared to weight loss in the control group) and other anthropometric measures; - had favourable effects on physical function (however, there were no changes in muscular strength), and - led to improved nutritional status after being discharged from hospital (whereas the dietary intake decreased dramatically in the control group despite being informed at discharge of the importance of nutrition). Authors conclude that a 6-month nutrition therapy provided by a clinical nutritionist, following the principles of Nutrition Care Process in combination with freely delivered supplemental energy- and protein-dense foods, has beneficial effects on body weight, physical function, dietary intake, and nutritional status.
Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Malnutrition is common among older adults. Dietary intervention studies in older adults aiming to improve anthropometrics measures and physical function have been inconsistent. We aimed to investigate the effects of nutrition therapy in combination with home delivered meals and oral nutritional supplements (ONS) in community-dwelling older adults discharged from hospital. METHODS A total of 106 participants (>65 years) were randomized into the intervention group (n = 53) and into the control group (n = 53). The intervention group received individual nutrition therapy (five in person visits and three phone calls) and freely delivered energy- and protein- rich foods, while the control group received standard care. Dietary intake, anthropometrics, and short physical performance battery (SPPB) were assessed at baseline and at endpoint. RESULTS Energy intake at baseline was similar in both groups (~1500 kcal at the hospital) but there was a significant increase in energy intake and body weight in the intervention group (+919 kcal/day and 1.7 kg, P < 0.001 in both cases) during the study period, compared to a significant decrease in both measures among controls (-815 kcal/day and -3.5 kg, P < 0.001 in both cases). SPPB score increased significantly in the intervention group while no changes were observed among controls. CONCLUSIONS Most Icelandic older adults experience substantial weight loss after hospital discharge when receiving current standard care. However, a 6-month multi-component nutrition therapy, provided by a clinical nutritionist in combination with freely delivered supplemental energy- and protein-dense foods has beneficial effects on body weight, physical function, and nutritional status. Malnutrition screening and assessment are essential for all patients admitted to the hospital and are particularly important for adults who are vulnerable. The aim of this study was to determine whether specialised oral-nutritional supplements (S-ONS) benefits were further associated with measurable improvements in quality of life (QoL) domains during the post-hospitalisation period. This study was a post-hoc analysis of NOURISH trial data. The NOURISH trial was a multicentre, prospective, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study. Six-hundred and twenty-two patients were included in the intent-to-treat analysis. Results showed that malnourished, older patients who received daily interventions with S-ONS (during hospital stay and for 90-day post-discharge) had significantly better QoL domain scores compared to those who received only placebo intervention. Specifically, there were significant differences in the QoL domains of mental health/ cognition, vitality, social functioning, and general health. Further, there were significant QoL differences for physical component, physical functioning, bodily pain, and emotional role. Authors concluded that among malnourished, hospitalised patients (aged 65 years and over), supplementation with S-ONS during the hospitalisation and 90-days post discharge resulted in improvements in QoL.
Abstract
BACKGROUND & AIMS Both during and after hospitalization, nutritional care with daily intake of oral nutritional supplements (ONS) improves health outcomes and decreases risk of mortality in malnourished older adults. In a post-hoc analysis of data from hospitalized older adults with malnutrition risk, we sought to determine whether consuming a specialized ONS (S-ONS) containing high protein and beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) can also improve Quality of Life (QoL). METHODS We analyzed data from the NOURISH trial-a randomized, placebo-controlled, multi-center, double-blind study conducted in patients with congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, pneumonia, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Patients received standard care + S-ONS or placebo beverage (target 2 servings/day) during hospitalization and for 90 days post-discharge. SF-36 and EQ-5D QoL outcomes were assessed at 0-, 30-, 60-, and 90-days post-discharge. To account for the missing QoL observations (27.7%) due to patient dropout, we used multiple imputation. Data represent differences between least squares mean (LSM) values with 95% Confidence Intervals for groups receiving S-ONS or placebo treatments. RESULTS The study population consisted of 622 patients of mean age ±standard deviation: 77.9 ± 8.4 years and of whom 52.1% were females. Patients consuming placebo had lower (worse) QoL domain scores than did those consuming S-ONS. Specifically for the SF-36 health domain scores, group differences (placebo vs S-ONS) in LSM were significant for the mental component summary at day 90 (-4.23 [-7.75, -0.71]; p = 0.019), the domains of mental health at days 60 (-3.76 [-7.40, -0.12]; p = 0.043) and 90 (-4.88 [-8.41, -1.34]; p = 0.007), vitality at day 90 (-3.33 [-6.65, -0.01]; p = 0.049) and social functioning at day 90 (-4.02 [-7.48,-0.55]; p = 0.023). Compared to placebo, differences in LSM values for the SF-36 general health domain were significant with improvement in the S-ONS group at hospital discharge and beyond: day 0 (-2.72 [-5.33, -0.11]; p = 0.041), day 30 (-3.08 [-6.09, -0.08]; p = 0.044), day 60 (-3.95 [-7.13, -0.76]; p = 0.015), and day 90 (-4.56 [-7.74, -1.38]; p = 0.005). CONCLUSIONS In hospitalized older adults with cardiopulmonary diseases and evidence of poor nutritional status, daily intake of S-ONS compared to placebo improved post-discharge QoL scores for mental health/cognition, vitality, social functioning, and general health. These QoL benefits complement survival benefits found in the original NOURISH trial analysis. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NCT01626742.

It is well known that older people are at a higher risk for nutritional inadequacy which is accompanied by depression, impaired cognitive function, and poor overall health. In this secondary analysis of a randomised controlled assessor-blinded dietary intervention trial, the authors examined the effects of six months of nutritional therapy on quality of life, self-rated health, cognitive function, and depression in elderly patients aged 65 years and over. The participants in the intervention group received nutritional therapy (HOMEFOOD) education to overcome malnutrition, which included dietary recommendations to ensure an adequate nutritional intake of energy and protein through diet and additional supplemental protein and energy-rich foods. After six months of nutritional therapy, the intervention group showed improvement in cognitive function, self-rated health, depression score, and quality of life scores, as well as improvements in measures related to weight gain. Further studies need to be conducted in order to determine if nutritional therapy provides additional benefits to older people. However, healthcare professionals can use the results of this study to better understand how nutritional therapy can improve the quality of life and health of older people in comparison to standard care, so they can better advise their patients.
Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Malnutrition is common among older adults and is related to quality of life, cognitive function, and depression. To what extent nutrition interventions can improve these outcomes remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of nutrition therapy on health-related quality of life (EQ-5D), self-rated health, cognitive function, and depression in community dwelling older adults recently discharged from hospital. METHODS Participants (>65 years) were randomised into an intervention (n = 53) and a control group (n = 53). The intervention group received individualised nutrition therapy based on the nutrition care process including 5 home visits and 3 phone calls, in combination with freely delivered energy- and protein-rich foods and oral nutrition supplements for six months after hospital discharge. EQ-5D, self-rated health, Mini-Mental-State-Examination (MMSE), and the Centre for Epidemiologic Studies Depression - IOWA (CES-D) scale were measured at baseline and at endpoint. RESULTS Two subjects dropped out, one from each arm. The control group experienced an increase in depressive symptoms and a decrease in self-rated health during the study period, while the intervention group experienced increases in cognitive function, self-rated health, and EQ-5D resulting in significant endpoint differences between the groups: EQ-5D (0.102, P = 0.001); self-rated health: 15.876 (P < 0.001); MMSE 1.701 (P < 0.001); depressive symptoms: - 3.072 (P < 0.001); all in favour of the intervention group. Improvements during the intervention in MMSE, self-rated health, and CES-D were significantly related to body weight gain in a linear way. CONCLUSION Cognitive function and mental well-being worsen or stagnate in older adults who receive standard care after hospital discharge. However, a six-month nutrition therapy improves these outcomes leading to statistically and clinically significant endpoint differences between the groups. As improvements were related to body weight gain after hospital discharge, we conclude that the increase in dietary intake, with focus on energy and protein density, and changes in body weight might have contributed to better cognitive function and mental well-being in older adults after the intervention.

Cancer cachexia is a multifactorial condition that reveals impairments in energy and protein balance leading to weight loss through the loss of skeletal muscle and body fat. Nutritional status of cancer patients affects therapeutic efficacy, and the disease survival is influenced by the degree of anorexia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of omega-3 fatty acids fortified nutrition supplement intervention on nutritional status, quality of life (QOL) and pro-inflammatory cytokine concentrations of cancer patients. This study was a randomised controlled study. Participants (n = 58) included in the study were patients who were in stages between II to IV receiving one or more cancer therapies without taking any nutritional supplements. Both control and experimental groups received regular nutrition counselling and education, while only the experimental group was asked to take oral nutrition supplements (ONS) twice a day (400 ml, 400 kcal). Results show that ONS intervention: - alleviated symptoms of gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, vomiting and constipation; - exerted improvements in many of QOL indices; and - did not improve (statistically significant) biochemical markers of nutritional status and concentration level of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Authors conclude that nutritional supplements can improve some of the QOL components which need evidence-based explanation in mechanistic aspects.
Abstract
OBJECTIVE Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer patients often experience severe malnutrition during cancer therapies due to gastrointestinal dysfunctions including poor digestion and absorption as well as tumor-associated anorexia. In this study, we performed a randomized clinical trial to determine the efficacy of oral nutrition supplement (ONS) enriched with omega-3 fatty acids on nutritional status, quality of life (QOL), and pro-inflammatory indices. METHODS Patients diagnosed with GI cancers were recruited and screened for eligibility. A total of 58 patients were randomly allocated to either the control group (n=27) or the experimental group (n=31). The intervention group received 200 ml ONS twice a day while the control group received routine care. Anthropometrics, Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) score, QOL score and nutrient intake data were collected at baseline, week 4 and week 8. Blood was drawn for biochemical assessments. Nine patients from each group dropped out of the study Forty patients (18 control patients and 22 intervention patients) completed the study. RESULTS This study showed that ONS intervention improved PG-SGA scores in the intervention group (p<0.01). Scores of physical functioning score and role functioning were declined only in the control group and the difference between week 8 and baseline for role functioning was significant (p<0.001). Fatigue score was steadily decreased in the experiment group, and the differences between week 8 and baseline was significant between two groups (p<0.02). However, no statistically significant improvement in biochemical markers of nutritional status and pro-inflammatory cytokine concentrations were found. These results suggests that ONS intervention for 8 weeks improves PG-SGA scores and QOL scores in patients undergoing cancer therapy.

Iodine is one of the essential trace elements in human body, which can only be obtained from the diet. Pregnant women are a special population, and their iodine intake needs to not only meet their own health needs but also to supply the growth of the foetus. The main aim of this study was to compare the iodine supplement measures and dietary contribution between pregnant women and adults. This study is based on a multi-stage random sampling method with a total of 2,128 pregnant women and 1,493 adults. Results show that iodine nutrition of pregnant women and adults was adequate in the four provinces included in the study. The largest difference of iodine levels between these provinces was the use of iodine during food preparation and the amount of dietary iodine intake. Additionally, the dietary iodine intake of pregnant women was less than the recommended nutrition intake. Authors conclude that various factors may affect thyroid disease prevalence in pregnant women, such as habitation (urban/rural) and gestation. Furthermore, it is important to coordinate the relationship between iodine nutrition and low sodium diet.
Abstract
BACKGROUND Different iodine supplement measures emerge along with the economy development in China. The article objectives are to compare and explore the relationship between iodine sources and nutrition of pregnant women and adults. METHODS A total of 2,145 pregnant women and 1,660 adults were investigated by multi-stage random method. Questionnaire was used to collect basic information and the consumption of food, water, and iodine preparations. Household salt and individual urine and blood samples were collected, and thyroid function and morphology of pregnant women were measured. RESULTS The median urinary iodine concentration (MUIC) of pregnant women (164.49 μg/L) was lower than adults (187.30 μg/L, p < 0.05). Iodine supplement with IS (iodized salt) was the main measure for pregnant women and adults, and the difference was mainly on the consumption of iodine preparations between pregnant women (5.19%) and adults (0.85%). Moreover, adults' dietary iodine intake from food (100.6 μg/day), IS (140.8 μg/day), and drinking water (6.0 μg/day) was higher than those of pregnant women (86.5, 107.2, and 3.5 μg/day, respectively). Compared with iodine supplement with IS, ISFP (IS + iodine-rich food + iodine preparations) could reduce the risk of iodine deficiency for pregnant women. The MUICs for pregnant women and adults of iodine supplements with IF (iodine-rich food) and ISF (IS + iodine-rich food) were lower. For pregnant women, thyroid nodule (11.90%) and peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) positive (9.32%) were high prevalent thyroid diseases, and habitation (urban/rural), gestation, annual income, and drinking water type would affect them. CONCLUSION Pregnant women and adults had adequate iodine nutrition in four provinces. Their iodine supplement measures were different, the consumption of iodine preparations in pregnant women was higher, and their dietary iodine intake was lower than adults. ISFP was an effect measure for pregnant women to supplement iodine.

The current treatment for COVID-19 is mainly focused on infection control and effective vaccine therapy because of extensive measures to reduce person-to-person transmission. However, the psychosocial repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic have not yet been fully considered. The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional attitudes and habits that changed during the COVID-19 pandemic due to fear and anxiety status. The study included 1012 individuals (n=827 female, n=185 male) living in Turkey with an age range between 18 and 65 years. Results indicate: - that 26·7 % of the participants used nutritional supplements in particular vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B12 and zinc. - an inverse association between anxiety, fear and nutrition habits during the COVID-19 pandemic. - differences in shopping preferences, processes applied to foods and vegetables and fruits due to the fear of virus contamination from the surfaces. Authors conclude that continuous surveillance of the psychological consequences for outbreaks should become routine as part of preparedness efforts worldwide.
Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate effects of fear and anxiety on nutrition during the COVID-19 pandemic. DESIGN Participants were recruited by an online survey in this cross-sectional study. The questionnaire included general demographic characteristics, level of fear and anxiety, and nutritional habits. The Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 test (GAD-7) were used to determine fear and anxiety. SETTING Turkey. PARTICIPANTS A total sample consisted of 1012 adults. RESULTS In pandemic, fear and anxiety caused individuals to skip breakfast and snacks less, but more at lunch. A positive significant correlation was observed between the increased consumption of yoghurt, cheese and water and FCV-19S scores. There was a positive significant correlation between cheese, legume, nuts-seeds, cake-cookies, dessert and tea consumption and GAD-7 scores. A 1-unit increase in FCV-19S scores affected 1·04 times of increased consumption of yoghurt, kefir, cheese, nuts-seeds, fruit (dry) and rice-pasta. A 1-unit increase in GAD-7 scores affected 1·03 times of increased consumption of egg and fruit (fresh); 1·04 times of increased consumption of cheese and other vegetables; 1·05 times of increased consumption of milk, meat, poultry, fish, legume, nuts-seeds, fruit (dry), cake-cookies and tea; 1·07 times of increased consumption of rice-pasta and coffee and 1·08 times of increased consumption of bread and dessert. CONCLUSIONS In pandemic, anxiety and fear led to changes in individuals' nutritional habits and food preferences. Continuous surveillance of psychological consequences for outbreaks should become routine as part of preparedness efforts worldwide. In addition, the effects of these psychological problems on nutrition should be evaluated.

With advancing age, a loss of muscle mass and strength is observed (sarcopenia), increasing the risk of falls, fractures, and mortality. The aim of this review was to provide an overview of nutritional countermeasures to disuse atrophy and anabolic resistance in older individuals. Literature shows that: To date, the most potent intervention to mitigate disuse-induced muscle deterioration is mechanical loading in the form of resistance exercise. Optimising nutritional intake via high-quality proteins, food-fortification and/or oral nutritional supplements could potentially attenuate disuse-induced impairments in muscle protein turnover that drive the atrophy process. Targeted single and/or multi-ingredient supplements may facilitate accrual and retention of muscle tissue during disuse events and may be a preferable strategy in older adults who are unable to consume adequate high-quality dietary protein from whole-foods alone. Authors conclude that further research is needed to determine the temporal change in muscle protein turnover during disuse events and translate promising evidence of potentially beneficial nutritional supplements/ingredients into a clinically relevant setting.
Abstract
Preserving skeletal muscle mass and functional capacity is essential for healthy ageing. Transient periods of disuse and/or inactivity in combination with sub-optimal dietary intake have been shown to accelerate the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength, predisposing to disability and metabolic disease. Mechanisms underlying disuse and/or inactivity-related muscle deterioration in the older adults, whilst multifaceted, ultimately manifest in an imbalance between rates of muscle protein synthesis and breakdown, resulting in net muscle loss. To date, the most potent intervention to mitigate disuse-induced muscle deterioration is mechanical loading in the form of resistance exercise. However, the feasibility of older individuals performing resistance exercise during disuse and inactivity has been questioned, particularly as illness and injury may affect adherence and safety, as well as accessibility to appropriate equipment and physical therapists. Therefore, optimising nutritional intake during disuse events, through the introduction of protein-rich whole-foods, isolated proteins and nutrient compounds with purported pro-anabolic and anti-catabolic properties could offset impairments in muscle protein turnover and, ultimately, the degree of muscle atrophy and recovery upon re-ambulation. The current review therefore aims to provide an overview of nutritional countermeasures to disuse atrophy and anabolic resistance in older individuals.

Covid-19 needs both prevention and recovery strategies to reduce complications. This review study aimed to discuss the associations between nutrition, obesity, and the impact these have on stomach symptoms associated with Covid-19. Obesity has been identified as a risk factor for Covid-19 and this could be due to several factors such as impaired immune function, increased inflammation, increased susceptibility to infection and the high number of cells on fat tissue, which express the receptor known to allow Covid-19 into cells. The involvement of the gut microbiota of obese individuals was extensively reviewed and gut dysbiosis has been associated with many diseases, thus improving gut microbiota may go some way to improving Covid-19 outcomes. Nutritional interventions to reduce obesity need to be part of a multi-pronged strategy and the possible introduction of vitamin D supplements and probiotics. The paper did not draw any conclusions; however this paper could be used by healthcare professionals to understand the role of obesity in increasing the risk of Covid-19 infection, complications that may arise upon and after infection and nutritional strategies as part of a management plan.
Abstract
The current review aimed to synthesize the literature on the complex relationship between food consumption and nutritional status as well as the digestive system in order to examine the relationship between immunity and potential responses to COVID-19 infection. The goal is to help inform the many healthcare professionals working with COVID-19 patients. A literature search was performed on PubMed, Scopus, and EMBASE databases. Hand searches were also undertaken using Google and reference lists to identify recent evidence. Studies were critically appraised, and the findings were analyzed by narrative synthesis. Nutritional status can impact immunity in several ways, including affecting susceptibility to infection, severity of disease, and recovery time, and is therefore a significant consideration in the management of COVID-19. COVID-19 can also impact digestive function, which can further impact nutritional status. The role of Vitamin D deficiency in vulnerability to severe respiratory infections, including COVID-19, has been recognized, and it may have a role in treatment where deficiency is indicated. Healthcare professionals should be aware that obesity may be accompanied by micronutrient malnutrition including vitamin D deficiency and alterations in the microbiome and inflammatory responses, which can further impact immunity and disease severity. Multidisciplinary team-work is recommended in the management of patients with COVID-19, and approaches should include a consideration of nutritional status (both macronutrients and micronutrients), body weight, and gastrointestinal signs and symptom.

All bariatric surgery procedures impact on nutrition to varying degrees and can potentially cause clinically significant deficiencies of micronutrients. The British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) published its first nutritional guidelines in 2014. In fact, the aim of this document is to systematically review the current evidence for preoperative and postoperative biochemical monitoring and micronutrient replacement for adolescents and adults undergoing bariatric surgery, and to update the recommendations for safe practice in the U.K. setting. One hundred and thirty-nine papers were included in the review. Results show that following surgery, the risk of nutritional deficiencies increases because of the impact of bariatric surgery on both oral intake and absorption. Thus, preoperative care should include: - a comprehensive nutritional assessment prior to bariatric surgery, - a clinically investigative and corrective approach of nutritional deficiencies before surgery, - preparatory support and education by a dietitian, and - guidance on following a low calorie/low carbohydrate diet. Whereas, postoperative care should include access to lifelong monitoring following bariatric surgery to ensure that nutritional requirements are met, and risks of developing post-bariatric surgery related nutritional deficiencies are reduced. Authors conclude that these guidelines have the potential to improve clinical practice and safety for people undergoing bariatric surgery and should be considered for adoption by healthcare organizations.
Abstract
Bariatric surgery is recognized as the most clinically and cost-effective treatment for people with severe and complex obesity. Many people presenting for surgery have pre-existing low vitamin and mineral concentrations. The incidence of these may increase after bariatric surgery as all procedures potentially cause clinically significant micronutrient deficiencies. Therefore, preparation for surgery and long-term nutritional monitoring and follow-up are essential components of bariatric surgical care. These guidelines update the 2014 British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society nutritional guidelines. Since the 2014 guidelines, the working group has been expanded to include healthcare professionals working in specialist and non-specialist care as well as patient representatives. In addition, in these updated guidelines, the current evidence has been systematically reviewed for adults and adolescents undergoing the following procedures: adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and biliopancreatic diversion/duodenal switch. Using methods based on Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network methodology, the levels of evidence and recommendations have been graded. These guidelines are comprehensive, encompassing preoperative and postoperative biochemical monitoring, vitamin and mineral supplementation and correction of nutrition deficiencies before, and following bariatric surgery, and make recommendations for safe clinical practice in the U.K. setting.

Despite the advantages of chemotherapy, it can cause cancer-related malnutrition leading to both reduced quality of life and reduced survival rate. Oral nutritional supplements (ONSs) provide balanced nutrients, calories, and protein to complement insufficient oral intake, and ONS provision during treatment may improve nutritional status. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of ONS on nutritional status in patients undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic and bile duct cancer. Patients were randomly allocated to the ONS group (15) and non-ONS group (19) and dietary intake and body weight were assessed at weeks 1, 2, 4 and 8. Body composition and quality of life was assessed at baseline and week 8. This study found the supply of ONS helped promote health by increasing body fat mass, improving quality of life and decreasing fatigue symptoms in pancreatic and bile duct cancer patients. These results were more pronounced in patients in the first cycle of chemotherapy. Based on these results, the authors conclude ONS may improve nutritional status by increasing fat mass and/or maintaining the body composition of patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Abstract
Chemotherapy may negatively affect nutritional status and quality of life (QOL) in pancreatic cancer patients. Our aim was to investigate the beneficial effects of oral nutrition supplements (ONS) on pancreatic and bile duct cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Among patients with progressive pancreatic and bile duct cancer receiving chemotherapy, the ONS group (n = 15) received two packs of ONS daily for 8 weeks while the non-ONS group (n = 19) did not. Anthropometric measures, dietary intake, nutritional status, and quality of life were assessed. ONS significantly increased daily intakes of energy, carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids at 8 weeks compared to the baseline. After 8 weeks, fat mass significantly increased in the ONS group. For patients in their first cycle of chemotherapy, body weight, fat-free mass, skeletal muscle mass, body cell mass, and fat mass increased in the ONS group but decreased in the non-ONS group. Fat mass increased in second or higher cycle only in the ONS group. Patient-generated subjective global assessments (PG-SGA) and fatigue scores in the Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (QLQ-C30) improved in the ONS group. ONS might improve nutritional status by increasing fat mass and/or maintaining the body composition of pancreatic and bile duct cancer patients with chemotherapy, especially those in the first cycle, and alleviate fatigue symptoms.
